Guidelines for Novice Alley of Doom
1. Dogs must pass through the starting timer gate, travel through the center of the Alley of Doom distraction and then pass through the finish time gate. Any dog leaving the alley of doom and not traveling through the center of the alley will be given a NT.
A successful run is a clean run with no detours or zoomies. Determination of a successful run or No Time (NT) will be at the Judges discretion based on these guidelines and cannot be contested.
2. Each entered dog will get two attempts at the Alley of Doom course at the level that they entered. The better of the two attempts will be entered as a score for the World Championships.
3. Heights are measured by judges or existing agility height cards can be used for dogs over 18 months of age. Dogs under 18 months of age can participate but will not be scored for World Championship.
4. AKC registration or PAL is what we use to determine breed categories.
5. Alley of Doom is force free. Dogs voluntarily comply with the cue word. No choke, prong or shock collars allowed at any time prior, during or after participating in an Alley of Doom event. Dogs must wear a flat buckle collar, harness or head collar.
6. Dogs run the course off leash, collars and harnesses are allowed. Dogs dragging a leash will be given a score of NT.
7. Dogs are allowed ONE restart at the Novice level, this means if something goes wrong they are allowed to restart their run one time per attempt, two restarts per entry.
8. If the timer equipment fails the dog will be allowed a rerun.
9. All dogs must be caught safely in the run back area. Any catch that is deemed unsafe by the judge will be scored as a NT (no time). Safe catches include dropping of a toy to ensure that the dog is not quickly yanked in a 180 degree turn. Safety is foremost.
10. Alley of Doom is a reason to party with your dog and the reward is ideally a customized love bomb. The person calling the dog must be happy and must reward dog when they get to them. Failure to do so will result in a NT.
11. All decisions of the judge are final and any violation of these guidelines will result in NT for both attempts and a judge may even ask that the dog and handler or parent leave the event.
